Vikings Sign Odell Beckham Jr. to Practice Squad
The Minnesota Vikings signed Odell Beckham Jr. to their practice squad on Oct. 7, 2026, one week after the New York Giants released him. Jordan Schultz first reported the move. Beckham, 33, logged 20 offensive snaps, one target and zero catches in three games with New York. Minnesota is 4-0 entering a Week 5 game against the New Orleans Saints. Schultz said the Vikings reached out immediately after the Giants moved on, that the offense has needed some juice, and that Beckham's relationship with Justin Jefferson is a plus. Jefferson is dealing with an ankle injury. The signing reunites Beckham with head coach Kevin O'Connell, who coached him on the 2021 Rams, and with assistant Frank Smith from the 2024 Dolphins. Beckham tore his ACL in Super Bowl LVI. Career line: 575 receptions, 7,987 yards, 59 touchdowns. He was the Giants' No. 12 overall pick in 2014 and Offensive Rookie of the Year. He lands on the practice squad, so a Week 5 role is not guaranteed. Rolling Out called the move puzzling given the crowded receiver room and floated larger roster implications. The Times of India focused on the 4-0 record versus zero recent catches and on depth while Jefferson recovers. Next is whether Minnesota elevates him after evaluating how he picks up the offense.
