Mariota Ruled Out of London Game With Knee Injury

Commanders backup Marcus Mariota was ruled out of Sunday’s London game against the Colts after injuring his right knee on a first-quarter sack. He left with Washington leading 6-0, having completed 3 of 4 passes for 46 yards and run for 35 yards. With starter Jayden Daniels sidelined by a dislocated elbow, seventh-round rookie Athan Kaliakmanis took over for his NFL regular-season debut, making him Washington’s third quarterback in the game. Daniels could potentially return for next week’s game against the Giants, while Mariota’s injury adds uncertainty to the team’s quarterback situation.
