Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase left Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars after a second-quarter tackle in which a defender grabbed his facemask and another hit him in the head and upper-body area as he went down. Chase caught a short pass from Joe Burrow on second-and-21 with about 12 minutes left in the first half, Cincinnati trailing 3-0. A facemask flag was thrown. Chase lay on the ground as trainers rushed out, then walked off under his own power to the blue medical tent and later to the locker room with a towel over his head. The Bengals finished the drive with a 29-yard Evan McPherson field goal that tied the game 3-3. The Bengals listed Chase as questionable to return while checking for a possible concussion. He had 3 catches for 26 yards before exiting and entered the game with 18 catches, 185 yards and 3 touchdowns, including 9 catches for 98 yards and a touchdown the prior week in Pittsburgh. He had hyperextended his left knee in an Aug. 25 practice but did not miss a game. Whether he returns remained unresolved pending the evaluation.

No right coverage yet — a bubble gap.
Bengals need to protect their receivers better if they want to stay in playoff contention.
The facemask should draw a flag every time, and the follow-up hit to the head makes it worse for Chase.
