Packers Linebacker Cooper Carted Off With Achilles Injury
Packers LB Edgerrin Cooper was carted off with a non-contact left Achilles injury in the third quarter of a 17-14 win over Tampa Bay on Oct. 4, 2026, and ruled out. He went down with 8:43 left in the third on Xavier McKinney's sack of Jalon Daniels after grabbing his left ankle and calf. Before leaving he had nine tackles, a sack, a quarterback hit, an interception and a pass defensed. Coach Matt LaFleur told reporters the injury was "not good" and "I would suspect, yes" on whether Cooper would miss the rest of the season. On Packers Radio with Larry McCarren, LaFleur said "It doesn't look good on him" and "That's a huge blow for our football team. I hurt for him. I hurt for our team." NBC Sports reported season totals of 30 tackles, three sacks and one interception; CBS Sports had 21 tackles (14 solo) and two sacks before Sunday. Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports said the initial fear is a torn Achilles. Isaiah McDuffie replaced Cooper then exited with an eye injury; Ty'Ron Hopper entered. Imaging is expected Monday in Green Bay to confirm the diagnosis. No recovery timeline was reported. Cooper is a 24-year-old third-year linebacker eligible for a contract extension next offseason.
