Achane Exits Early With Knee Injury as Dolphins Go Thin at Running Back
De’Von Achane was downgraded to out with a knee injury after leaving the Dolphins’ Week 3 game against the Kansas City Chiefs in the first quarter on September 27, 2026. Miami posted on X: “Injury Update | De’Von Achane has been downgraded to out.” He had 17 rushing yards on three carries and dropped one target before getting hurt on an 11-yard run to the left side. Achane got up gingerly, favoring his leg, stood still flanked by teammates, then walked slowly to the sideline under his own power. He was evaluated in the injury tent, went to the locker room, and later appeared on the sideline in the third quarter without helmet or shoulder pads. Backup Jaylen Wright was inactive with a foot injury, leaving Ollie Gordon as the only other active running back. Gordon had a career-high 14 carries by the midpoint of the third quarter before leaving with cramping. Wide receiver Malik Washington took a carry from the backfield in the fourth quarter. Achane signed a four-year, $64 million extension with $32 million guaranteed earlier this year and ranks seventh on Miami’s all-time rushing list in 47 games. In 2025 he rushed for 1,350 yards and led the NFL at 5.7 yards per carry. The Dolphins cut into the Chiefs’ halftime lead with a 37-yard field goal early in the third quarter.
