Eagles Blow 10-Point Lead, Fall to Rams
Nick Sirianni went for it on fourth-and-goal from the Rams' 2-yard line with 7:31 left while the Eagles led 20-10. The play failed. The Rams scored 14 unanswered points and won 24-20, dropping the Eagles to 2-2. Kyren Williams finished a 9-play, 98-yard drive with a 1-yard run under four minutes remaining to make it 20-17. Philadelphia went three-and-out. Williams then scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 7-yard run with 1:10 left. Saquon Barkley left in the first quarter with a hamstring injury. Jalen Hurts completed 12 of 27 passes for 93 yards. The Eagles' six second-half possessions ended in three punts and three turnovers on downs. Sirianni said he wanted to make it a three-score game and leave the Rams in a backed-up scenario, and that the failed call was on him. He said he is never going to use anything as an excuse and that the team has to look in the mirror. Eagles fans on X called for Sirianni to be fired and criticized Hurts. Some analysis defended the aggressive call as an attempt to build a three-score lead; others argued the depleted offense made taking the points the wiser choice. The Eagles face Jacksonville next.
