ManningCast Draws 705,000 Amid Ratings Decline
The ManningCast remains a prominent alternative NFL broadcast, but its audience and appeal appear to have declined from its early peak. A recent edition drew 705,000 viewers, compared with nearly 2 million during a high-profile 2021 broadcast, as ESPN’s stronger main booth featuring Joe Buck and Troy Aikman has reduced the alternate telecast’s distinctiveness. Many fans have criticized the show’s frequent celebrity guests, saying Peyton and Eli Manning are most compelling when they focus on football analysis, while others argue the guests help attract viewers who would not watch the standard broadcast. Despite the criticism and lower ratings, ESPN continues to schedule guest-heavy episodes and is expanding the format with features such as AI-powered, real-time analysis.
