Chiefs' Thornton Carted Off With Ankle Injury
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyquan Thornton suffered a left ankle injury in the fourth quarter of the Oct. 4, 2026 game against the Las Vegas Raiders in Las Vegas. After a 55-yard catch from Patrick Mahomes, his left foot bent awkwardly under Raiders safety Treydan Stukes. Jordan Dajani reported Thornton did not know he was seriously hurt, began celebrating, then tried to stand on the bad ankle. He left on a cart with an air cast as players from both teams knelt in prayer. TV cameras showed injury replay then stopped further replays. Thornton had five catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns before exiting; an earlier 8-yard score put Kansas City ahead 17-13. Rashee Rice had left in the first quarter with a hamstring injury and did not return. Kenneth Walker III scored a 2-yard touchdown on the next play and again less than 20 seconds later after a Raiders kickoff fumble. Thornton, the 50th pick in 2022 who joined the Chiefs in 2025, entered with six catches for 108 yards this season. No contested claims found. The Chiefs had not immediately announced a diagnosis. They next face the Los Angeles Chargers on October 18 after a bye.
