Washington Commanders linebacker Leo Chenal was carted off on a backboard with a neck injury in the second quarter of the Sept. 27, 2026, game against the Seattle Seahawks in Landover, Md. He went down with 6:38 left in the half tackling Emanuel Wilson. players gathered around him. Fans chanted his name as he raised a fist and gestured while carted off, with cheers as he neared the tunnel. He was ruled out. Washington led 17-10 at halftime. Greg Olsen said: "You can see the concern for both teams and from his teammates. This is just every football player's nightmare. This stadium has gone about completely silent." Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported he appeared to take a knee to the helmet, had clearance after a prior chest injury, is a Grantsburg native and ex-Wisconsin player, and signed a three-year $24.75 million deal after 58 tackles, two sacks and one interception with the Chiefs in 2025. Wire summary says Ale Kaho replaced him; Washington Times says Kain Medrano did and notes Frankie Luvu already out with a groin injury. The Times stated the injury extent was not immediately disclosed.
