Guardians Beat Rays to Take ALCS Game 1

The Cleveland Guardians opened the American League Championship Series with a 7-3 comeback win over the Tampa Bay Rays, taking a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series after trailing 2-0. Rookie Chase DeLauter sparked the rally with an opposite-field home run and went 3-for-5 with three runs, while José Ramírez had three hits. Ramírez had also helped Cleveland come back from a 2-0 deficit to beat the Chicago White Sox in the ALDS, including a go-ahead, two-run homer in Game 5. DeLauter’s performance and contributions from trade additions have strengthened Cleveland’s lineup behind Ramírez, who said the city and its fans mean everything to him. Cleveland’s Game 2 offers a chance to extend its series lead.
