Gasser, Buehler Set for NLDS Game 4
Milwaukee will start left-hander Robert Gasser against San Diego’s Walker Buehler in Game 4 of the National League Division Series on Wednesday, with the Brewers leading the best-of-five series 2-1 after the Padres’ 4-3 win kept them alive. Gasser, acquired from San Diego in the 2022 Josh Hader trade, has not faced the Padres in a regular-season or playoff game. He went 5-5 with a 3.87 ERA in the regular season and finished strongly, posting a 1.67 ERA with 31 strikeouts and 12 walks over his final six appearances, though he has not pitched in nearly two weeks. Milwaukee may rely heavily on its bullpen, and the Padres will be without Game 1 starter Michael King after using him late in their previous win. Buehler is making his first Division Series appearance after missing the series opener while on the paternity list and has extensive postseason experience, including two World Series titles with the Dodgers. Milwaukee is also looking to end a 12-game road postseason losing streak.
