White Sox Take Early Lead in ALDS Game 3

The White Sox entered Game 3 of the ALDS leading Cleveland 2-0, with a chance to clinch at Rate Field and reach the ALCS for the first time since their 2005 championship season; the Guardians faced elimination. Both teams chose bullpen games, opening with Chicago’s Sean Newcomb and Cleveland’s Daniel Espino, while Chicago adjusted its lineup and fans filled the South Side ballpark. Kyle Teel’s double brought home Chicago’s first run in the game’s early action. In another ALDS elimination matchup, Tampa Bay also held a 2-0 lead over the Yankees, whose offense had scored twice in the series; Max Fried was set to start against Nick Martinez.
