The Tampa Bay Rays beat the New York Yankees 1-0 in Game 1 of the American League Division Series. Drew Rasmussen pitched eight dominant innings, allowing one hit and two walks while striking out 10; he carried a no-hitter into the eighth, when Austin Wells doubled and was thrown out trying to stretch it into a triple. Jonathan Aranda’s fourth-inning home run provided the game’s only run, and closer Bryan Baker retired the side in the ninth to seal the win. Game 2 is scheduled for Monday in Tampa Bay.
