Rangers’ Josh Jung Suffers Right-Hand Fracture After Being Hit by Pitch

Josh Jung was diagnosed with a fracture in the fifth metacarpal of his right hand after being hit by a pitch from Twins starter Joe Ryan in the first inning Friday. The Rangers lost 10-2 to fall to 79-81. Jung left for X-rays, returned with a large wrap, ran the bases, and was removed for a pinch hitter in the third. He said he was devastated and felt like the bones kind of got pushed. Manager Skip Schumaker confirmed the fracture, saying we’re going to get more testing done and see what happens. If he’s out that’s pretty significant. He noted it’s not ideal at this time of the year but we’ve still got two games left and we’ve got to figure this thing out. Pitch speed was 95 mph per FantasyPros and 94.6 mph per AP. Jung fractured the same hand in 2024, requiring two surgeries. He returned Sept. 12 from a left calf strain, hitting .341/.383/.636 with 3 HR and 7 RBI in 11 games. A season-ending injury would leave him at .299/.365/.462 with 12 HR, 42 RBI and a career-high .365 OBP.
