Guardians Clinch Third Straight AL Central Title

The Cleveland Guardians clinched their third consecutive AL Central title Saturday with an 11-5 win over Kansas City, securing the AL’s No. 2 seed, a first-round bye and home-field advantage in the Division Series after the Chicago White Sox lost to Colorado. Patrick Bailey and Brayan Rocchio each hit two home runs as Cleveland totaled five homers. The Guardians then rested several regulars in Sunday’s regular-season finale, which Kansas City won 3-2 behind two solo home runs by Vinnie Pasquantino. Cleveland will open its Division Series at home Saturday against the White Sox or the AL West champion, Houston or Texas.
