Cowboys defense holds players-only meeting after allowing 419 yards
After a 24-16 loss to Tampa Bay left Dallas at 2-3, the Cowboys’ defense held a players-only meeting Monday to review its standards, expectations and how teammates can support one another, linebacker DeMarvion Overshown said. The unit gave up 419 yards, including 241 rushing yards, and one report ranked it second-worst in the NFL in total yards allowed per game after five weeks. Overshown said the defense needs to reduce mental errors and improve communication, and expressed confidence it can become one of the league’s best. Dallas is also making coaching adjustments, moving coordinator Christian Parker to the booth and bringing in veteran assistant Mike Pettine, as it prepares to face Green Bay.
