Cowboys plan moving Parker to coaching booth
After a 24-16 loss to Tampa Bay dropped Dallas to 2-3, the Cowboys are making changes to a defense that has struggled badly against both the run and pass. Owner Jerry Jones said defensive coordinator Christian Parker will move from the sideline to the coaching booth, while veteran coach Mike Pettine has joined the staff as a senior defensive assistant. The moves are intended to help Parker and improve the unit, and Jones rejected the suggestion that the first-year coordinator is overwhelmed, pointing instead to extensive changes in the defense. The booth move has also raised questions because former coordinator Matt Eberflus made a similar shift late in his final season with Dallas.
