Falcons QB Penix Says Rib Injury Isn't Long-Term
Michael Penix Jr. said his rib injury is not long-term after Atlanta’s overtime loss to Baltimore. "What I am going through right now I know, it’s not something that is going to be a long-term thing," Penix said, via Tori McElhaney. "But today, it took me out for the last couple of minutes of the game, but I'll be alright." Kevin Stefanski said Penix would undergo imaging Monday. Tavius Robinson sacked Penix with 19 seconds left in regulation. Penix fumbled, was attended by medical staff, and left for the sideline. Tua Tagovailoa replaced him for one play. Penix returned, threw an incompletion, and the Falcons punted into overtime. Penix stayed on the bench in OT, attended by staff, and did not return. He finished 19 of 32 for 240 yards and a touchdown. Tagovailoa was 2 of 3 for 34 yards and threw the game-ending interception. Penix was in his third game back since tearing his ACL last season. The Falcons next play the Chicago Bears in Week 6. CONTESTED none identified
