The Los Angeles Rams are releasing kicker Harrison Mevis and signing Blake Grupe off the New York Jets practice squad one day after a 37-34 overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills on Oct. 12, 2026, in Inglewood, California. Mevis missed a 50-yard field goal in the first quarter and had a 48-yard overtime attempt blocked by Greg Rousseau after a Rams fumble recovery. Tyler Bass then kicked a game-winning 45-yard field goal for Buffalo. Mevis made all four extra points but is 5 of 9 on field goals this season, his four misses through five games the most in the NFL. He went 12 of 13 as a 2025 rookie and 6 for 6 in the playoffs. Sean McVay said the kicking game was "not even close to good enough" and "cost us the game tonight," vowing to evaluate everything. Grupe made all 11 field goals and all 10 extra points in five games with the Colts in 2025 before the Jets claimed him off waivers on Aug. 31. Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported the change. No contested claims found in the record.

Mevis missing the 50-yarder and getting blocked in OT really hurt in that Buffalo loss so the Rams had to act fast.
