Fresh Strike Reported at Riyadh Airport
A fresh missile strike reportedly hit Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport on Saturday, injuring multiple people and prompting evacuations; Saudi authorities had not publicly confirmed the incident at the time of reports. It followed two Houthi-claimed attacks on Thursday that Saudi officials said killed three Saudi citizens, including a Saudia Airlines pilot, and injured others. The Thursday strikes targeted airport facilities and a parked Saudia aircraft, which caught fire and reportedly had no passengers aboard; Saudi officials also said air defenses intercepted missiles aimed at Riyadh and Khamis Mushait, while falling debris damaged a kindergarten and a medical complex. Flights were diverted or cancelled, and several airlines suspended Riyadh services, although airport operations had returned to normal after Thursday’s attacks; major conferences in the city were still expected to proceed. The attacks came amid an escalating Saudi-Houthi conflict, including Saudi strikes on Houthi targets in Sanaa, and raised concerns about civilian safety, regional stability, and shipping and energy routes.
