UN adds 61 firms to settlement database

The UN Human Rights Office on Sept. 25, 2026 added 61 companies and removed five from its database of businesses linked to Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, bringing the total to 214 firms from 11 countries. First published in February 2020 with 112 companies and later revised in 2023 and 2025, the update found 200 firms contributing to adverse effects on Palestinian self-determination and 14 directly linked. None met the causation threshold. Additions include ADAMA, Alony Hetz and Spain's Salvat Logistica. Removals include Opodo and eDreams. Volker Türk said: "This report is another reminder to companies that they have human rights responsibilities and are expected to conduct due diligence to ensure that they do not become involved in human rights violations or abuses." The UN report said involved businesses "should take appropriate action to address the adverse human rights impacts with which they are involved." Israel's diplomatic mission in Geneva called the database "a political tool used to advance a smear campaign against business enterprises that committed no wrongdoing." Britain banned settlement trade earlier in September 2026; France and Canada announced similar action. A July 2024 ICJ advisory opinion found Israel's presence in occupied Palestinian territories unlawful and settlement activity a breach of international law.
