Riyadh airport attacked again with several injured, officials say
King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh was attacked on Saturday, October 10, 2026. Two regional officials said the airport was evacuated and air traffic stopped. An eyewitness at gate 401 told AFP: "I saw 401 hit, I saw injured in front of my eyes. Everyone was running." A blast was heard at the hub. More than a dozen ambulances rushed in. A medical source said doctors were asked to report to hospitals and told they faced a serious emergency situation. The Saudi Civil Aviation Authority suspended operations. The US embassy said it was aware of attacks and urged citizens to avoid the airport. Flightradar showed flights diverted or cancelled; several Gulf airlines, including Kuwait Airways, cancelled citing the security situation. Contested: a hospital source told AFP dozens were wounded, while the civil aviation agency said it was still tallying injuries and assessing damage. Houthis claimed the Thursday and October 6-7 strikes that killed including a pilot; there was no immediate Houthi statement on Saturday. A Saudi-led coalition formed in 2015 to stop a Houthi takeover of Yemen. A 2022 temporary ceasefire and later informal truce began unraveling in July after Houthis announced a maritime embargo and seized the port of Mokha on the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
