Vikings' Hockenson ruled out with concussion
Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson was ruled out of Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints after suffering a concussion. The injury occurred on a 7-yard catch from Kyler Murray on the second play of the game, just 38 seconds in at Caesars Superdome. Hockenson's head slammed into the turf when tackled by Pete Werner. He remained on the ground for several minutes before moving to the sideline, blue medical tent, and locker room for evaluation. Hockenson led Minnesota with 22 receptions through four games, including 13 catches in a 15-10 Week 4 win over Miami. Backup Josh Oliver is out with a torn biceps, so Gavin Bartholomew and Ben Yurosek played tight end and both caught passes from Murray on the opening drive, which ended in a 40-yard field goal by Will Reichard. Minnesota also was without Christian Darrisaw (concussion), Donovan Jackson (knee), and Jordan Addison (hamstring); Jordan Mason is on IR with a fractured thumb. Hockenson enters the NFL's five-step concussion protocol. The Vikings have a Week 6 bye, making Oct. 25 against the Colts his next chance to return.
