Jaguars, Eagles Players Ejected in London Kickoff Fight
Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. and Jacksonville's Bryan Thomas Jr. were ejected after fighting at midfield on the opening kickoff at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Jaguars rookie Josh Cameron returned that kickoff 90 yards for an apparent touchdown, wiped out by offsetting penalties—illegal formation on the Eagles and holding by Branson Combs. Players from both benches came onto the field. Officials conferred, assessed matching personal fouls for unsportsmanlike conduct or unnecessary roughness, and ejected both men before either team ran an official offensive play. EssentiallySports reported five penalty flags on the play and referees losing hats in the scrum. The kickoff was redone. Ari Meirov posted that the two got into it at midfield and were ejected. CONTESTED: Ari Meirov identified Thomas as a Jaguars linebacker; ESPN described him as a defensive end. No other contested facts found. Trotter had a career-high 15 tackles the previous week against the Los Angeles Rams and was expected to start over Jihaad Campbell. ESPN said Thomas was an undrafted rookie defensive end in his fourth career game. The Jaguars later took the lead on a Parker Washington touchdown.
