No. 8 BYU beats Iowa State, stays unbeaten

No. 8 BYU defeated Iowa State 24-10, improving to 5-0 (3-0 Big 12). Bear Bachmeier threw for a season-high 329 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for a career-high 109 yards, completing 73 percent of his passes in his fourth career 300-yard game. He completed his first seven passes, went 4 of 4 with a 26-yard run on the opening drive, and Journee Tonga finished it with a 6-yard touchdown run. A rollout misdirection 63-yard pass to Roger Saleapaga set up Kyler Kasper's touchdown for a 14-3 lead with 1:51 left in the half. Bachmeier's 75-yard touchdown strike to Legend Glasker late in the third extended the lead to 21-3. BYU's defense held Iowa State to 49 yards before halftime and six yards in the second quarter. Jaylen Raynor threw for 98 yards and a touchdown; Aiden Flora ran for 86 yards. Christian Greenlaw's touchdown catch brought Iowa State within 11 before Kyle Konrardy's 46-yard field goal attempt missed. Matthias Dunn kicked a 38-yard field goal for the final 24-10 margin. Iowa State fell to 3-3 (1-2 Big 12). BYU next hosts No. 3 Notre Dame.
