Florida State defense records 10 sacks in 38-7 win over Virginia

Florida State's defense recorded 10 sacks in a 38-7 win over Virginia, then scored 38 unanswered points after trailing 7-0. Virginia managed 104 yards over the final three quarters and -12 in the second. Chris Jones made a fourth-down stop in the second quarter at 17-7. In the fourth, Florida State sacked Beau Pribula on three consecutive pass plays, ending the possession on fourth-and-26. Tony White blitzed at 46.5 percent with a 60 percent pressure rate. Pribula went 2-of-8 under pressure and 3-of-13 against the blitz. Florida State had given up 1,152 yards and one sack combined to SMU and Alabama in its prior two games. 247Sports put Pribula at -62 rushing yards; roundtable.io said he lost 72 yards on 15 carries, with Virginia finishing at 205 total yards and 37 net rushing. Independent Journal Review and 247Sports said the 10 sacks were Florida State's most since 1997; Tomahawk Nation said since 1989. Nine players had a sack per 247Sports and Tomahawk Nation; roundtable.io counted eight. Coach Mike Norvell said the unit played with edge as linebackers and safeties joined the front, praised White for adapting the plan, and said players grew up against a good offensive line.
