Houthis say Saudi airstrike killed three children
Houthi authorities said Saudi airstrikes hit civilian homes in Yemen's Dhamar governorate on Friday, Oct. 16, 2026, killing three children and wounding others. The Houthi-run health ministry reported Saturday that the strikes struck houses in al-Ar village in the Dawran Aness district, killing one child aged 8 and two aged 10. The ministry said more than a dozen people were injured. Saudi Arabia had not immediately commented. The Houthi news agency Saba said the "enemy Saudi air force targeted civilian homes" and accused Saudi forces of "using internationally banned cluster bombs," as cited by L'Orient Today. That outlet also reported Houthi figures that Saudi airstrikes from Sept. 3 to Oct. 15 killed 115 and wounded 305. The health ministry put deaths in Houthi-controlled areas since fighting resumed in September at 124. Yemen slid back into war in July 2026 after years of relative calm, and fighting intensified in September after a Houthi offensive. L'Orient Today said an Oct. 10 Houthi attack on Saudi infrastructure killed 13 people. No Saudi comment appears in the record. Injury totals differ slightly between the health ministry's more than a dozen and Saba's 17.
