Dream, Valkyries Set for First Championship
The Atlanta Dream and second-year Golden State Valkyries are set to meet in the 2026 WNBA Finals, guaranteeing the league a first-time champion. Atlanta reached its first Finals since 2013 after sweeping the Washington Mystics and New York Liberty. Angel Reese, in her first season with Atlanta, is the league’s Defensive Player of the Year and leading rebounder, and will pursue her first WNBA title. Golden State’s roster includes Gabby Williams and Kiah Stokes, additions shaped by general manager Ohemaa Nyanin; four former UConn players are on the team. The best-of-seven series opens Oct. 17 in San Francisco.
