Atlanta Dream take 2-0 semifinal lead

The Atlanta Dream beat the New York Liberty 101-98 in overtime, taking a 2-0 lead in the WNBA semifinals. Naz Hillmon hit the go-ahead layup from Rhyne Howard with 20.8 seconds left in OT. Angel Reese and Jordin Canada each scored 23; Reese sealed it with free throws at 4.3 seconds. Breanna Stewart had 35 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Marine Fauthoux's late regulation 3 forced OT. Allisha Gray missed with a left-hand injury, day-to-day. Contested claims: Stewart said officials told New York it had no reset timeout (a halfcourt advance rule) left in overtime even though one remained. "This is not blaming the refs, but when I ask both refs if we have a reset timeout again, and they tell us no, and we leave the game with a reset timeout, it's pretty frustrating," she said. She asked referee Kevin, who checked with Fatou and was told no. Smesko said, "I thought they had a timeout left. I was expecting it to be advanced, but it wasn't. So we had to play, and fortunately we were able to get the stop." Stewart missed a 32-foot three at the buzzer. Smesko said the Dream regrouped in overtime with remarkable performances by many players. On Gray's possible return he said, "We hope so." Reese said the team is super fearless and stayed connected. Game 3 is next.
