Dolly Parton's Nephew Calls Estate Threat Claims Misleading
Dolly Parton died Aug. 25, 2026, at age 80 after a private cancer battle. Nephew Bryan Seaver, her longtime head of security, announced the death in an Instagram video. He was fired last month. She's Alive LLC and manager Danny Nozell then sought a temporary restraining order against him. The order was granted ex parte. A judge later postponed the injunctive-relief hearing at Seaver's request; it is now set for Oct. 20, 2026. On Oct. 12, Seaver's attorneys, Dominic J. Leonardo and James L. Collier, told Page Six and USA TODAY that while the family was grieving, the business manager went to court and the media with a surprising and incomplete story, and that text messages presented as evidence are misleading and taken out of context. They said the ex parte order issued without his side, which is coming, that he preferred to stay private, and that the family wants an amicable, speedy resolution while Dolly's legacy stays untouched. The estate's filings allege Seaver threatened to destroy the brand, start a podcast to ruin partnerships, or be paid; cited weapons and violence while demanding money; drove employees from the office in fear; and harassed staff at a Nashville hotel and museum. An email chain titled "Fwd: Letter from Dolly" includes an Aug. 21 message. Those allegations have not been proven in court.
