Houthis Claim Riyadh Airport Attack, Threaten Saudi Airspace

Saudi Arabia said Houthi attacks on airports in Najran and Jizan on October 5 caused material damage and lightly injured three people. Houthi forces also claimed attacks on sites in Riyadh, Abha and Khamis Mushait; Saudi authorities said missiles were intercepted, and damage claims at Riyadh’s airport were not independently confirmed. Yemen’s internationally recognised government said missiles and drones struck Aden International Airport, with one landing near the runway and a Cairo-bound flight diverted to Jeddah; the Houthis said they were targeting nearby military supplies. The attacks unfolded as Saudi-backed Yemeni forces mounted a counteroffensive along the Red Sea coast and near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, raising concerns about shipping and energy trade, while oil prices rose amid fears of renewed disruption.
