Russian Strikes Kill Seven as Ceasefire Efforts Stall

Russian drone and missile attacks on Kyiv and other Ukrainian areas have killed at least seven people and wounded dozens, damaging civilian and infrastructure sites as winter approaches. Ukraine and the United States are pursuing an energy ceasefire, renewed grain-corridor access and possible technical-level talks, while Zelenskyy said a leaders’ meeting at the December G20 summit in Miami could advance diplomacy if an agreement is reached. Ukraine says it is ready to halt attacks on energy infrastructure, but Russia has rejected an immediate or temporary ceasefire, with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov saying Moscow favors a longer-term peace deal. Trump has said Putin is willing to meet, but the Kremlin previously said conditions for renewed high-level talks were not yet in place, and negotiations have produced a prisoner exchange without resolving disputes over territory, sovereignty and security guarantees. Zelenskyy urged tougher sanctions and restrictions on trade with Russia at the United Nations, warning that Moscow’s cooperation with North Korea and other actions are widening the conflict.
