Florida restores power to 95% after Isaias
Florida officials said power had been restored to about 95% of customers who lost service during Hurricane Isaias, while Florida Power & Light separately reported restoring more than 85% of its affected customers and completing work in six of eight counties. The remaining repairs were concentrated in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, where storm damage complicated restoration; officials also cautioned that some homes may need electrical repairs before service can safely resume. State and utility crews cleared roads, restored power to critical facilities and schools, and provided supplies and customer assistance at distribution and relief sites. Gov. Ron DeSantis also announced nearly $27 million in rural infrastructure grants for 14 Florida communities to support projects including roads, utilities, health care and economic development.
