Florida Relief Teams Aid Isaias Recovery
Relief teams from Kansas, Oklahoma, Kentucky and Texas have deployed to Florida after Hurricane Isaias killed at least four people and left many residents without power. Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief is sending two kitchens to Panama City and expects to grow its team to 50 people, with capacity to prepare up to 10,000 meals a day in partnership with the Salvation Army. The Salvation Army Texas Division sent nine incident-management staff to coordinate operations, while Southern Baptists of Texas Convention volunteers in Milton are clearing debris and supporting affected residents and churches. Team Rubicon volunteers are clearing downed trees around Milton and opening access for utility crews, with roof-tarping work planned in Santa Rosa County. Lowe’s is distributing free buckets of cleaning and safety supplies at stores in Gulf Breeze, Ensley and Milton. Responders say recovery may take weeks, with additional teams available if needed.
