Cold Front Expected to Bring Southern Temperature Plunge
Unseasonably warm, summerlike weather is expected across parts of the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic before a cold front brings a sharp weekend cooldown. Savannah and nearby areas could approach 90 degrees before highs fall into the low 70s, while the Washington, D.C., region is forecast to drop from the upper 80s to highs in the 60s. Florida’s Suncoast will also turn windier after the front, with gusts potentially reaching 40 mph and choppy coastal waters creating boating hazards. The Savannah report notes that autumn temperatures there have risen over time, a shift linked primarily to human-caused climate change, and that this year has already brought an unusually high number of 90-degree days.
