Wyoming Expands Big-Game Carcass Dumpsters to Curb CWD
Wyoming Game and Fish is expanding its free big-game carcass dumpster program to give hunters more legal disposal options and help limit the spread of chronic wasting disease, a fatal illness that affects deer, elk and moose. New locations include Ten Sleep, Hulett and Sundance, with funding from the Wyoming chapters of the Dallas Safari Club and the Wyoming Sportsman’s Group also extending availability at some existing sites. Hunters may leave remains at the harvest site after removing legally defined edible meat, but carcasses transported elsewhere for processing must be taken to an approved dumpster or landfill. The department says proper disposal is especially important to avoid moving disease-causing prions into areas with lower levels of infection.
