Suicide bombing kills 11, injures 30 in Pakistan

A suicide bomber detonated an explosives-laden vehicle at a police checkpoint in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on September 26, 2026, killing at least 11 and wounding about 30, some critically. Security forces cordoned the area and began investigating, searching for facilitators of fleeing terrorists. The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility. The group is separate from but allied with the Afghan Taliban. The attack came two days after border fighting Pakistan said killed at least 13 Afghan Taliban, and after Pakistani strikes inside Afghanistan. It threatens mediation by China, Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. A December 2023 attack at a local police station killed at least 23.
