Russia Warns NATO of Nuclear Strikes Over Kaliningrad
Russia’s embassy in London warned that British or NATO military action against Russian territory, including a blockade or strike on Kaliningrad, could bring a response using all means available, including nuclear weapons and potentially strikes on NATO decision-making centers. The warning followed media discussion and Sky News’ fictional series *The Wargame*, which depicted a simulated British government considering retaliation against Kaliningrad and Murmansk; the programme was not organized by the UK government or military. NATO said its exercises posed no threat to Russia and condemned the warnings as irresponsible nuclear rhetoric; the exchange also followed comments by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski advocating a stronger NATO posture near the region. Separately, former Kremlin adviser Sergei Karaganov warned that a NATO troop deployment in Ukraine or a direct threat to Russian territory could lead to nuclear war. Russia has also intensified missile and drone attacks on Kyiv and expanded strikes deeper into Ukraine, causing civilian deaths and disrupting daily life; analysts say the campaign aims to weaken Ukraine and its support network, while Moscow frames its actions as defensive.
