Bryson Fire 17% Contained, Threatens 100 Structures
Santa Ana winds, low humidity and heat fueled multiple Southern California wildfires, prompting evacuations and leaving tens of thousands without power. The Bryson Fire in Malibu burned about 147 acres and was 61% contained by Saturday evening; evacuation orders and warnings had been lifted, no structures were damaged, and one firefighter was injured. The Norte Fire near San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano burned about 570 acres, damaged or destroyed six homes and injured two firefighters, with evacuation orders still in place in Saturday-morning updates. The Henderson Fire also burned on Camp Pendleton, while crews stopped the Peak Fire’s forward progress in Azusa. The fires stirred renewed anxiety among Malibu residents still coping with losses from earlier destructive fires.
