Isaias Disrupts Events; Trump Skips Alabama-Georgia Game
Hurricane Isaias threatened the Gulf Coast and Southeast with damaging winds, heavy rain, flooding, storm surge and possible tornadoes, disrupting events across Georgia, Tennessee and Florida. President Donald Trump canceled plans to attend Saturday’s Alabama–Georgia game in Tuscaloosa, urging first responders and law enforcement to focus on storm safety; as of Friday, the game remained scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET, with Alabama and the SEC monitoring conditions, College GameDay moved indoors and campus tailgating shortened. In Georgia, Cobb County Schools canceled Saturday activities and athletics, and events including Marietta’s chalk-art event, a Saturday American Cancer Society walk at Atlantic Station and Alpharetta’s Wire and Wood programming were canceled; Atlanta Pride and the Georgia Apple Festival remained scheduled while organizers monitored conditions. In the Tampa Bay area, Oktoberfest Tampa was moved to Oct. 30–Nov. 1, the St. Pete Autumn Harvest Festival was rescheduled, Island Fest was canceled without a replacement date, and the Cotee River Bike Fest was moved to Jan. 15–17, 2027.
