Trump Names Leaders for New Super Intelligence Force
President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social on October 4, 2026, the creation of a Superintelligence Force to coordinate the federal government's efforts to ensure America's continued leadership in superintelligence. In the post he said many believe the field is more important than the Industrial Revolution and the Internet, and that the force will also protect the interests and improve the lives of all Americans. He said it will report to him and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles. Reports agree that leadership includes FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering and Pentagon Chief Technology Officer Emil Michael, and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor. They disagree on the Director of National Intelligence: unn.ua identifies John Ratcliffe; unite.ai and Ground News aggregation identify Jay Clayton. The step follows Trump's September 19, 2026, Truth Social post saying he was forming an "AI Force" and would name an AI czar, and Executive Order 14434 signed September 29, 2026. That order directs the executive branch to use "Super Intelligence" and "SI" instead of "Artificial Intelligence" and "AI" to the maximum extent permitted by law, ties the terms to the statutory AI definition in title 15 of the U.S. Code, and directs the Assistant to the President for Science and Technology to submit proposed legislative language within 60 days to define Super Intelligence.
