NBA Hall of Famer Stoudemire Graduates Police Academy

NBA Hall of Famer Amar’e Stoudemire graduated from Miami-Dade College’s Basic Law Enforcement Academy on October 14, completing training for a second career in policing. He is expected to join the Miami-Dade Schools Police Department after additional training. Stoudemire has said becoming a police officer was a childhood ambition, influenced by family members who worked in law enforcement; the school district said he could serve the community and be a positive influence for young people. He received the academy’s Harry “Coach” Everett Award in recognition of his contributions during training. Stoudemire played 14 NBA seasons, was a six-time All-Star and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2026.
