Wallace Cleared After Three-Driver Charlotte Crash

Bubba Wallace, Alex Bowman and William Byron were knocked out of the Bank of America 400 after Bowman’s car got loose and struck Wallace’s car near the exit of Turn 2 late in Stage 1, sending both cars into the wall and Byron into the wreck. Wallace was slow to exit, prompting safety workers to bring a stretcher, but he walked to an ambulance, was evaluated at the infield care center and released. All three drivers were reported to be okay. Bowman took responsibility for losing control, while Wallace called it a racing incident and said he had no hard feelings. The crash also hurt Wallace’s position in the Chase, with his championship prospects now more difficult.
