Fathers of Nolan Wells friends sue Terrell Owens for defamation
The fathers of Warren Hudson, Jax Pitalo and Morgan Seymour, three friends of Nolan Wells who are under 21, are suing Pro Football Hall of Famer Terrell Owens for defamation and false light. The suit centers on Owens’ Sept. 26 post on X, which shared a video accusing the friends of killing Wells and tampering with evidence and urged their immediate arrest; the plaintiffs say Owens independently amplified the accusation to his 1.2 million followers. The post came after a Jackson County grand jury found no evidence of criminal wrongdoing by the friends, though forensic testimony indicated that other Snapchat users had deleted or recalled messages on Wells’ phone. Wells disappeared during a Fourth of July outing to Horn Island and was found dead in the water two days later; his cause of death was undetermined. The plaintiffs are seeking compensatory and punitive damages, and their attorneys say they are pursuing or preparing additional defamation claims over public comments about the case.
