Sen. Tillis Calls Hegseth Vote Biggest Regret
Sen. Thom Tillis says his deciding vote to confirm Pete Hegseth as defense secretary is the biggest regret of his career, and he now believes Hegseth should resign. In his forthcoming book, Tillis also writes that he should have opposed Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s confirmation as health secretary and says at least 30 Republican colleagues have privately expressed reservations about President Donald Trump’s actions while publicly supporting him. Tillis has criticized Hegseth’s management and focus on service members’ appearance over military readiness, calling him an actor rather than a manager; he has also said he would support a resolution to impeach Hegseth over the Iran war.
