Paul Scholes said he wants a 2011-12 Premier League winners medal if Manchester City are stripped of the title. An independent commission found City guilty of more than 100 charges covering 2009/10 through 2017/18. City deny wrongdoing and confirmed Friday they have lodged an appeal. Sanctions remain undecided and will be set at a separate independent commission hearing. Scholes posted on Instagram: Keep hearing ex-team-mates saying they want trophies taking off them but they don't want their medals... f*** that I'm a greedy b*****d I want my medal. Wayne Rooney said on his YouTube show Stick to United he would not really feel comfortable accepting another Premier League medal, adding United did not deserve it after leading by six or seven points with four or five games to go and losing to City on goal difference. Roy Keane said if he was a player he would be 100% sticking those medals in the bin because it is cheating. Rio Ferdinand and David de Gea have supported receiving medals. Scholes won 11 Premier League medals and shared five titles with Rooney. On The Good, The Bad and The Football podcast Scholes said there is no real precedent for taking trophies and giving medals, and that serious punishment is needed for cheating but there would still be something wrong about claiming he won a medal. CONTESTED: No contested claims found in record.

Whose framing of this story rings truest to you?
Rooney refusing any medal shows more sportsmanship than chasing one after the fact.
Scholes has every right to claim that medal if City broke rules to win it that year.
