UK universities see 14% rise in antisemitic incidents, report finds

The Community Security Trust recorded 95 antisemitic incidents involving UK universities in 2025/26, a 14% rise from the previous academic year and nearly 80% above the 53 reported in 2022/23. The figure remains below the 272 incidents recorded in 2023/24, but the CST says cases remain substantially higher than before the October 2023 attacks and subsequent Gaza war. Most incidents involved abusive behavior, such as verbal abuse, online comments or graffiti; across 2024/25 and 2025/26, 16 incidents were attributed to university staff, six assaults were reported, and two cases were classified as extreme violence. CST chief executive Mark Gardner said Jewish students and staff continue to face a serious campus problem, while Education Minister Lucy Powell said no student should have to choose between expressing their identity and feeling safe.
