UCLA quarterback Iamaleava leaves Oregon game injured
UCLA quarterback Nico Iamaleava left Saturday’s game against Oregon at halftime after appearing to hurt his leg during a tackle, and backup Ty Dieffenbach took over. Iamaleava had struggled in the first half, throwing two interceptions and losing a fumble at UCLA’s 1-yard line that led to Oregon’s only touchdown before halftime. UCLA coach Bob Chesney initially said Iamaleava had taken a hit to the quad and was fine, but he did not return for the second half; the team spokesperson later characterized the issue as a leg injury. Dieffenbach, a transfer making his first appearance for UCLA, led the offense in the second half.
