High School Bands Mix Cartoon Themes With Jazz at Fall Festivals
Students and school bands across several communities took part in fall music events. Five Campbell-Tintah High School students attended Minnesota State University Moorhead’s Fall Band Festival, selected for their musicianship and character; their teacher said they would bring new experience back to the small school’s music program. Akron Early College High School students rehearsed their pep band on the University of Akron campus, playing instruments including drums, clarinet, trombone, saxophone and guitar. The Midland Marching Band Showcase brought together 11 area high schools, whose performances ranged from cartoon and Halloween themes to jazz, rock and classical selections.
