Renee Good’s Family Sues US Over Minneapolis Killing
Renee Good’s family has filed two lawsuits over her fatal shooting by ICE officer Jonathan Ross in Minneapolis on Jan. 7, alleging unjustified force and that the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown created conditions that led to her death. One suit seeks to hold the federal government responsible; the other names Ross and several administration officials and alleges a conspiracy to interfere with civil rights. Good’s partner, Becca Good, and her brother said they are seeking accountability, while the White House called the suits baseless and said it would vigorously defend against them. Good’s killing, along with the later fatal shooting of Alex Pretti, fueled protests and wider calls to rein in immigration enforcement.
